Caroline McCaffery
A seasoned attorney, entrepreneur and speaker, Caroline started her career as a corporate securities attorney at Gunderson Dettmer in 2000 where she represented dozens of technology startups.
Utilizing her technical expertise, Caroline then became in-house counsel and multiple hat wearer for startup technology companies, including the role of General Counsel and VP of Business Affairs at AI startup, Clarifai.
It was at Clarifai that Caroline developed expertise in natural language processing, which she consistently commented as being the “game changer for the legal profession.”
Practicing what she preached, she launched her own startup, ClearOPS, in 2020 focusing on powering assessments with AI intelligence. In its infancy, ClearOPS developed its own machine learning model to auto answer assessments based on a client’s knowledge base.
Today, ClearOPS empowers enterprise companies and private equity firms to manage vendors and respond to assessments with a GenAI platform, so they can assess the risk of AI while using AI.
Caroline is a certified privacy professional and has the honor of being in the first class of certified AI governance professionals as offered by the IAPP.
She is a licensed attorney in New York and California and frequently speaks on topics such as AI in the law, risk, and women in entrepreneurship.
